ABOUT

장수연: I explore how repetition and adaptation shape identity within conditions of displacement. As an immigrant artist navigating continuous relocation, I translate everyday behaviors, habits, and emotional rhythms into prints, kinetic installations, performances, and algorithmic systems. Through simple, rule-based experiments, I reveal how small, repetitive acts generate unexpected retrospective realizations or coincidental miracles. Through mechanical and performative processes, I examine the tension between adaptability as the inevitable loss of rootedness and seeking continuity or belonging within transience.
